Canning Pears

Tonight we took on the great task of canning pears. My parents sent us home with pears last weekend and my mom called me last night to tell me that they would probably be ready. So tonight we got together with Rob and Becca and went pear crazy- 71 quarts baby (between the two of us)! And first time canning fruit by ourselves. We are pretty proud.

Labor Day in Walla Walla, WA

My sister Rachel and I

We started off our Labor Day weekend with a good ol' Blue Devil football game. One of my favorite things about living so close to my family is that I can still attend some of their sports activities. My brother Blake interviewed in the pre-game and so we were all pretty excited about that too.

We went to the rodeo in Walla Walla on Saturday night with our good friends, Becca and Rob. I was pretty excited about my cowgirl outfit but didn't get a full body snapshot. Shucks!

Blake's birthday was Sept. 2nd so we had a little present for him.

On Monday (Labor Day), we hit the kitchen canning peaches. Well, I bottled and let Becca and my mom peel. It made for a long but very productive day.

Here we are taking a lunch break from the canning/working/playing. From left to right: Blake, my dad, my sisters Crystal and Rachel, and our friend Becca.

Rob and Brandon made some mean homemade jam!

Some of the fruits of our labors... Thank you family and friends for a fun and productive weekend!
